“I’m on my 4th Volvo and have had my Volvos serviced at two other independent Volvo mechanics, not including a few ripoff trips to the dealer (don’t do it!). Ali and Charlene are hands down the most trustworthy and reasonable Volvo team I’ve come across.
A little over a year ago, I was having some serious electrical issues with my current Volvo and was really concerned that I’d end up spending more than the car was worth to fix them... Ali patiently walked me through my options and the steps he’d have to take to diagnose and fix the issue without unnecessary expense. Not only was he completely reasonable with the labor time, but he also went above and beyond by driving my car to and from his home during his commute (which I Okayed in advance) since the electrical issue was only surfacing after 20-30 minutes of driving so wasn’t apparent with a short test drive. Was very happy with the service and communication, and my later routine service appointments have been no exception. Wholeheartedly recommend Montclair auto if you’re a Volvo lifer like me!”
“These guys are great! I recently took my Volvo C30 for a scheduled maintenance service based on the good reviews on Yelp and after a couple bad experiences at McKevitt Volvo. I talked to Ali the owner and he took my car in for the same day service. The experience was great. Ali found some potential problems and told me the truth about which ones were important and which ones were really not. He also gave me a couple referrals for other services my car needs. The bill was absolutely on the fair side. All said, I walked away as a happy customer. I’m definitely coming back. Outstanding service. Solid work. Excellent pricing. Thank you Ali.”

“have an 8 year old BMW and almost always went to the Berkeley BMW dealership where they often push for extra and (twice) unnecessary services. The last, and final, time I went to the dealership they told me I needed to replace the oil filter housing gasket. I’m really glad I had Ali look at it because (surprise!) the dealership had made a recommendation that is essentially an overkill for an (non-)issue that is very normal in an aged BMW. Ali made recommendation on more frequent oil change and was very helpful in letting me understand what to look for. I am really grateful for having a mechanic like Ali locally. Very happy they are around and even made me consider switching to a Volvo next time around. Thanks!”
“My family has been coming here for over 20 years. I have taken my 3 Volvos here. I wouldn’t let anyone else touch them. I remember when I was out of town in Southern California, and my Volvo XC 70 broke down. I got a quote from the local dealership and I called Ali to ask him if their quote was reasonable. His depth of knowledge was staggering, and he was able to tell me what both the labor and parts cost should be. He told me what to ask and what to be cautious of.
Now I drive a Honda, Montclair Auto Tech is still the only place I would take it for Service or Repair. I am so grateful for this place. It has my highest recommendation.”
